I used 4 large Honeycrisp apples and 1 Granny Smith, and not the 6 called for. These weighed 1029 grams before peeling, more than the 800 g of the recipe. My dish was filled to the brim, so I would suggest using closer to the 800 g of apples or using a larger dish.

I used pecans and cinnamon – good additions, but I would chop some of the nuts for the topping (like the picture shows) and not process all of them to flour texture . I substituted coconut sugar (which is brown) for the granulated sugar. At 35 min. baking time, the top of the bake was dark brown and looked way overcooked. If substituting for white sugar, I suggest a lower cooking time. I definitely would make this again.5 stars
