Thanks for your comment, Monique! I am glad you liked them! Normally they should be firm the first day you make these. Then, the longer they sit in the fridge the “wetter” they get. Some people like them drier, some more wet. Also it can depend on the filling. More filling or maybe thinner jam/pudding could turn them wet faster. Hope this helps.

Marvellina, even though this cake takes time to make, it is easy and the layers usually turn out better than you would expect, you just need to weigh the whole cake down for several hours. I never actually worried about the layers, maybe that is the trick here haha. You should try it! :)

Hi Rebecca! I simply buy vanilla pudding in sachets and prepare it following the instructions. I haven’t included this as every sachet can have different amount of pudding powder in it – depending on where you live. You just have to get about 500ml of pudding. Some shops also sell ready made puddings (never tried these so not sure if they are ok). As for the poppy seed cake, unfortunately I have no recipe for that. :(
