I think “butter cookie” is a very appropriate name for these cookies! And what a great idea for edible Christmas gifts. I love the photo of the cookie sausage…i was wondering how the cookies get shaped!

It sounds like you have a cookie mystery! Those are best kinds of mysteries, since you can eat them. :) I love the addition of the hazelnuts to these. What a great idea! I don’t often bake with hazelnuts, but I think I should.
