This double chocolate oatmeal is a quick and healthy breakfast recipe. Chocolate flavored oats are sweetened with maple syrup, topped with strawberries and chocolate chips!
In a pot, combine rolled oats, milk, water and salt. Cover it with a lid and bring to a boil. Remove the lid, reduce the heat to low and add cocoa powder. Stir constantly for 5 to 7minutes or until the oats are cooked and you are happy with their consistency.
Turn off the heat. Stir in the maple syrup and chocolate chips. Divide into 2 bowls, top with strawberries and extra chocolate chips.
Notes
Maple syrup can be substituted with honey.
The cooking time may vary. This will depend on how thick you like your oatmeal.
Use any toppings you like – raspberries, blueberries, bananas, nuts, seeds, ….
Chocolate chips can be omitted or substituted with chocolate shavings.
