How do you steam vegetables in an instant pot?
Steaming vegetables in electric pressure cooker is easy but you will need a steamer basket.
You don’t need to buy a special steamer basket to make this pressure cooker broccoli. If you already have one at home just check if it fits in the inner pot of your instant pot. If it does, you are good to go.
However, if you are planning on using your pressure cooker more often for steaming, maybe investing in a special steamer basket for Instant pot that can hold a lot of veggies and you can take them all out without any fuss, might be a good idea.
How much water to put in instant pot for broccoli?
You will only need to add the minimum amount that is stated for your pressure cooker. This amount will depend on its size. For a 6-quart (6-liter) instant pot it is 1 cup. This will be the same for any vegetables you decide to steam in instant pot.
How many minutes to cook broccoli in instant pot?
The active cooking time (e.g. cooking under pressure) is literally 0 minutes. This means that the broccoli cooks during the time that the pot needs to come to pressure. After, it’s done, so all you have to do is release the built-up pressure manually, season it and serve with a main of your choice.
How do you cook frozen broccoli in instant pot?
I do not recommend using frozen broccoli. I’ve tried it several times and every time it turned out really soggy, even after 0 minutes and quick release.
What can I add to broccoli to make it taste better?
Nothing is worse than a plate of under-seasoned vegetables. This is one of the reasons, many people don’t like eating them.
If you want your veggies taste good, you need to season them right. Cooked Instant pot broccoli will taste bland if you serve it as is. For that reason, it’s important to add some flavor to it.
A generous pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper are a must. To bring it to a whole new level, I recommend drizzling the broccoli florets with olive oil and sprinkling some dried oregano over. Give everything a good mix and serve!
Also, make sure you serve this instant pot broccoli (or any broccoli for that matter) while still warm. It tastes way better than cold one!

- Close the lid and lock it into its position. Set the steam releasing valve to SEALING and press the MANUAL button (or PRESSURE COOK) and set the timer to 0 minutes.
- When the instant pot comes to pressure (the silver pin goes up), release the pressure manually by turning the steam release valve to VENTING. Wait, until the pin drops down to open the pot.

- Serve right away!
Notes
- I used 2 broccoli heads with a total weight of 1.1 pounds (500 grams).

I cooked enough for 3 generous servings at 1 minute (I couldn’t figure out if my cooker has a “0” choice) on high pressure. I used a pre-cut California blend that was mostly broccoli. It came out bright green and so tender! Easiest broccoli I ever made. I think next time I’ll try low pressure, because it was really soft. This is my new favorite way to cook broccoli.
