This video shows you how to prepare the advent wreath made out of gingerbread dough. It is a pretty basic wreath that can be easily made with kids!
Check our recipe for gingerbread dough or use your own recipe.
Tools used:
8.5cm Cookie Cutter
20cm Cake Tin or a bowl
Rolling Pin
Flour for dusting
Various Christmas themed cookie cutters
Royal Icing
Royal Icing:
1 Egg White (small-medium egg)
150g Icing Sugar
Beat the egg whites until fluffy (not stiff or white, just fluffy). Sift in the icing sugar and mix until smooth. It should be quite thick.
Now divide this into 3 bowls.
Bowl 1 = For Gluing – 2 tablespoons (this will act as your glue, if you think it’s not thick enough, add some more icing sugar).
Bowl 2 = For Spreading the icing over the cookies – 4-5 tablespoons (thin it with some lemon juice – it should be runny but not too much)
Bowl 3 = For outlining & decorating the cookies & wreath – the rest of the icing.
Use clean plastic or ziplock bags for spreading and decorating. The one for spreading will have larger hole, the one for decorating should have smaller hole.
Make sure the cookies are completely cool before decorating.
Check out our video to see how to decorate and assembly the wreath.

Can the Gingerbread Advent wreath be left out for the 4 weeks of Advent? I would love to make this with our church.

Absolutely! We have it on our table for the whole Advent season.
