Possible variations:
Use brioche or challah instead of white bread.
Store-bought liquor can be substituted with homemade Irish cream.
It is possible to use half and half/single cream or milk instead of heavy cream. However, the egg mixture might turn quite thin. For the extra boozy batter, you can use only Bailey’s liquor.

Baileys French Toast
Ingredients
For Baileys French toast:
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup Baileys Irish cream (60 milliliters)
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup
- 1/8 cup heavy cream (30 milliliters), see note 1
- 6 slices of thick-cut bread , see note 2, 3 & 4
For Baileys whipped cream:
- 1 cup heavy cream , chilled (250 milliliters), see note 5
- 1/4 cup Baileys Irish cream (60 milliliters)
- 2 tablespoons powder sugar , see note 6
Instructions
For Baileys French Toast:
- In a wide deep plate/bowl, beat together, eggs, Baileys, cinnamon, syrup and heavy cream.
- Dip each bread in the mixture and cook on a lightly oiled/buttered griddle (preferred and quicker) or large frying pan/skillet on both sides, about 3 minutes in total (see note 7).
- Serve warm with toppings of your choice.
For Baileys Whipped Cream:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together chilled heavy cream, Baileys liquor and sugar until stiff (or to your liking). This will give you about 1.5 cups of whipped cream, plenty for 4-6 people (1 scoop per person).
Notes
- Heavy cream/double cream/whipping cream is cream with around 35% fat content. You can substitute this will lower-fat content, but it might have quite a thin consistency. However, for the Baileys whipped cream, you need to use heavy cream as lower fat content will not whip well.
- This recipe yields up to 6 French toasts (when using thick-cut bread). It yields 3 generous portions or 4 small (counting with 1.5 slices of bread per person).
- Don’t soak your bread too long in the egg mixture. This will pro-long cooking time as well as reduce the number of toasts you get from 1 batch. Just quickly dip on both sides and cook.
- Either fresh or a day (or 2) old bread can be used.
- Thin bread will also work.
- Powder sugar = icing sugar = confectioner’s sugar. The quantity of sugar can be increased/decreased to your liking.
- Cooking time may vary.
- The nutritional information is calculated for 1 thick french toast.
