And if you are wondering about storing spice mixes, read on.
How to store homemade spice mix
Store it in a sealed jar (Ziploc bag can also be used) in a dark and dry place. Pantry or kitchen cabinets are the best option.
When they are not properly stored – e.g. they are opened, they might lose color (when exposed to sun light) or change their consistency – they start clumping.
How to keep spices from clumping
To avoid clumping, it’s important to keep spices away from moisture. If you live in a humid climate and this is not possible, you can unclump them easily.
How to unclump spices
Pour them onto a paper kitchen towel and with the back of a spoon press down the spice and move it around until it is loose again. You can also throw it into a food processor or coffee grinder for a couple of seconds.
