Sweet chili puff pastry breadsticks with seeds. Puff pastry covered with Thai sweet chili sauce, sprinkled with seeds & baked to perfection! Easy party snack!
Guys, these easy homemade puff pastry breadsticks are addictive! They are different from the ordinary breadsticks you find in supermarkets! They are so easy to make and have so much flavor! If you are looking for a puff pastry breadsticks recipe I highly recommend this one.
They will make a great homemade appetizer so if you like entertaining at home these are perfect for it. I love how simple and quick they are! In 20 minutes you will get about 40 puff pastry breadsticks which is not bad, isn’t it?
So have you ever tried making puff pastry breadsticks yourselves? If not, here is your chance! I like eating these breadsticks with creamy soups like this Healthy Carrot Soup or Creamy Zucchini Soup. You could eat them with salads as well. I like to place them on a table and snack on them throughout the day. They keep me going when I feel hungry.
How to make these easy puff pastry appetizers:
To make these you only need 3 ingredients: Puff pastry, Thai sweet chili sauce and seeds of your choice. When it comes to puff pastry, I highly recommend using rectangular pre-rolled puff pastry sheets. This way you will not end up with any cut offs. Now, this does not mean that you can’t use a circle shaped pastry. When you do, I suggest cutting this into a shape that is as close to a rectangle as possible first.
Start with brushing the pastry with sweet chili sauce. Once this has been done, turn the pastry sheet so the longer side is facing you. Cut it in half lengthwise (i.e. from left to right – through the middle). Now start cutting strips from the closer end up (or from the farther end towards you).
I hope I did not confuse you much with my cutting instructions. Because I prefer having smaller breadsticks rather than large ones, I simply cut the sheet in half first and then I cut it into strips. This way I get about 40 sticks from one puff pastry sheet.
At last sprinkle generously with seeds. I like to finely chop them as well. You can use seeds of your choice. I used mixed seeds.
And this is basically it! All you have to do now is bake these easy puff pastry snacks until they are puffed.
Important:
Preheat the oven to 350F/180C. These puff pastry breadsticks don’t do well when the oven is too hot. Also they will be ready in about 15 minutes (depending on your oven) but in the end they can go from pale to dark brown pretty fast so I suggest to keep an eye on them towards the end. They should all puff nicely.
So guys, if you are like me and love quick snack ideas for parties put this puff pastry breadsticks recipe on your To-Make-Soon list! I dare say you will love them!
