Fresh Mint & Lemon Iced Tea Recipe! Refreshing, Healthy + Low Calories! Non-Alcoholic! | happyfoodstube.com

Most of us are blessed with long summer days. Days filled with lots of sunshine and high temperatures. During these hot days it’s important that we drink plenty of liquids, preferably water, in order to keep our bodies hydrated!

But guys, drinking “buckets” of pure water can get a bit boring, right? I know myself. I drink a lot of water in summer, especially when outdoors. But when I am at home, I am after something different. Anything! So I make all sorts of refreshing drinks that help me stay hydrated throughout the day!

Among these drinks are infused water, water with syrup, various fruit & vegetable juices or iced teas such as this fresh mint and lemon iced tea.

Fresh Mint & Lemon Iced Tea with Honey | happyfoodstube.com

I rarely make iced tea with tea bags. In fact, I don’t remember the last time I made it that way! We love fresh mint! It is the best herb to make various soft drinks with and so it is was an obvious choice for my iced tea recipe.

The preparation of this fresh mint and lemon iced tea is pretty simple:

Fresh mint sprigs (the more sprigs, the stronger the taste) + water, boiled = steeping & cooling down.

Honey to your taste.

Chilling in the fridge.

Lemon juice + lemon slices + ice (optional).

Enjoy!

We love to make fresh mint tea in the morning, let it steep, cool down and chill & turn it into fresh mint and lemon iced tea.

Fresh Mint and Lemon Iced Tea

This fresh mint and lemon iced tea is a great summer drink. It’s refreshing! It’s healthy! It’s low in calories!
Prep Time1 minute min
Cook Time30 minutes mins
Total Time31 minutes mins
Servings: 4 Cups (1 Liter)
Calories: 25
Author: Julia

Ingredients

  • 8-10 Sprigs Fresh Mint , rinsed
  • 1 Lemon
  • honey , to Taste
  • Ice Cubes
  • 4 cups Water (1 Liter)
Prevent your screen from going dark

Instructions

  • Place the mint sprigs in a large heatproof jug/pitcher. Boil the water and pour it into the jug/pitcher. Let it steep for 30 minutes.
  • Once the water is warm (not hot) add in a tablespoon of honey and mix until the honey has dissolved.
  • Place the jug in your fridge to chill. Keep it in the fridge until you are ready to serve.
  • Right before serving, squeeze in some lemon juice (don’t put too much, maybe 1/4 of a lemon – taste it first before adding more) and mix well.
  • Serve with a few slices of lemon, mint leaves and ice.

Notes

The more ice you add the lighter the flavor. If you prefer strong mint taste, I suggest you put more mint in! If you use dried mint to make this tea, you will achieve darker color and stronger flavor.

There is a lot of sugar in bottled iced tea… So better use your recipe and make this fresh drink, sweetened with honey at home :)

I agree with you there! With homemade drinks you are in control of what you put in and how much you put in. Enjoy! :)
